Wine Choices from Social Media Manitoba

The 10th Annual Winnipeg Wine Festival starts May 1 and lasts until May 7.  The theme this year is California wines, so I thought we could test the crowd at Social Media Manitoba Meetup for some of their favorite wine choices.  Here they are.  Enjoy!


@bokauffmann  Bo knows what he likes in wines a Chianti with Italian food (pizza & pasta)
@typeacubed  Lisa prefers the Orvieto Melini, a great choice at an excellent price point
@elizabethedge  Elizabeth likes the Itialian red wine Masi Amarone, she describes it as liquid red velvet (sounds excellent)
@jamesvkautz  James appreciates the Vineyard's "Symphony" white made by an unrelated Kautz family in the Napa Valley.  Looks like it would be a great place to go.
@dannyjameswood  Danny was clear in his choice Copper Moon Shiraz (best paired with burgers & BBQ ribs) and Cono Sur Cabernet Savignon a Chiliean grown organic wine
@vcandoo  Bhavesh likes Cabernets, Shiraz and Pinot Noir, medium bodied reds but he says his cousin makes the best wine, we all must try.  :)
@mkulasza  Mike likes South African Red with Itilian pasta like ravioli
@tinalussier  Tina likes the Sumac Ridge white wine, sounds like there are a lot of white varieties and it is Canadian made
@wizardofwords  Doreen likes the Barista 2009 Pinotage from South Africa, she likes the rich red wine with long legs and chocolate undertones paired with dark chocolate.  In the review for this wine, they indicated beer drinkers would become wine drinkers after trying this one.
@wpgsbestmtg  I enjoy the Pacific Rim Chenin Blanc paired with salmon, there are some great Chenin Blanc wines.

Bring Back the Jets Fans

With all the talk about the Phoenix Coyotes heading to Winnipeg, Winnipeg tweeters have been out in full force keeping all of us in the loop with up to minute reports on developments in the Jets returning to Winnipeg.  The number of people with Jet avatars and jet names is unbelievable.  I am posting some of the best tweets over the last few weeks.  If you have any others please let me know.
